For laminating medium-sized components with complex shapes and geometries, the glass filament fabric 280 g/m² is ideally suited. In contrast to plain weave fabric, this material ensures significantly better drapability. The easily formable reinforcing fabric has a diagonal ridge. The E-glass fibers used are heat resistant and stable.
Slight cuts, however, have to be made in terms of displaceability. If this property is desired, the glass filament fabrics in plain weave should be chosen.
In direct comparison with glass fiber mats, the resin consumption of glass filament fabric can be considerably reduced. The best results are achieved when bonding with epoxy resin. In principle, however, it is also possible to use all other resins based on polyester resin.
In the case of the glass filament fabric in twill weave 280 g/ m², both the impregnation properties and the surface stability can be considered very good. The fraying when cutting the fabric is low. The modified silane fabric provides a good resin entry into the tissue.
If you are processing multiple layers, be sure to overlap the individual reinforcement fibers by about 5 to 10 centimeters.
