Lightweight glass filament fabric 80 g/m² in plain weave is suitable for processing with epoxy resin and polyester resin. The high-quality material with adhesion-promoting silane size is mainly used for GRP applications in model making and for lightweight components with flat surfaces.
Plain weave has a very high slip resistance, but it does not drape as easily as twill weave reinforcement. Glass filament fabrics with a weight of 80 g/m² are available in variably selectable sizes from 1 m² to 100 m².
You can use the plian weave glassfilament fabrics to work on simple shaped parts. This dense weaving technique is created by the tight crossing of warp and weft threads. The pattern is similar to a chessboard. Plain weave glass filament fabric 80 g/m² convinces with high impregnation capability, very good surface stability as well as optimal tensile and compressive strength. The reinforcing fiber consists of long-stranded E-glass twisted yarns.
In contrast to fiberglass mats, fiberglass filament fabrics can be used in combination with epoxy resin, and you benefit from lower resin consumption due to the higher glass fiber content. Laminates with 80 g/m² woven glass filament fabric have a higher structural strength.
With a laminate thickness of 0.15-0.20 mm, you have an approximate resin consumption of 0.4-0.5 kg/m². Processing several layers of fabric, please make sure they overlap by about 5 to 10 cm.
